Submitting an Application
Applications for a Marriage License are no longer obtained by going into a District Court office. Applications are now completed and submitted electronically at kscourts.org.
When submitting the application, you must be able to provide an email address, as this is how the license will be issued to you. You will also be required to pay the filing fee of $85.50, plus the card processing fee. Marriage licenses can be applied for in any county in Kansas. If you obtain a Kansas marriage license, you may get married anywhere within the state of Kansas.
Processing the License
Once an application is submitted, there is a 3 day waiting period before the court can issue the license. Once the 3 day waiting period is over, the license will be issued to you via encrypted email. The license is valid for 6 months from the date it is issued. Once the ceremony occurs, you have 10 days to return the license to the issuing court.
Certified Copies
Certified copies of your marriage license must be obtained from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, Office of Vital Statistics.
